Initial Reaction: I feel kind of crazy right now! What did I just read? I'm going to be thinking about it for a long, long time.

Summary: As a young, queer couple who flip houses, Charlie and Eve can’t believe the killer deal they’ve just gotten on an old house in a picturesque neighborhood. As they’re working in the house one day, there’s a knock on the door. A man stands there with his family, claiming to have lived there years before and asking if it would be alright if he showed his kids around. People pleaser to a fault, Eve lets them in.

As soon as the strangers enter their home, inexplicable things start happening, including the family’s youngest child going missing and a ghostly presence materializing in the basement. Even more weird, the family can’t seem to take the hint that their visit should be over. And when Charlie suddenly vanishes, Eve slowly loses her grip on reality. Something is terribly wrong with the house and with the visiting family—or is Eve just imagining things?

Spoiler-free Review: I like to be creeped out and that's exactly how I felt reading this book. The pacing and tension building was perfect. There were genuinely creepy parts of the book that were described so well I had to put the lights up a little higher. Most of the time you will be saying "wait, what's going on here??" It really keeps you on your toes. The mixed media and found footage elements also quickened the pace and kept it fresh. To be honest the summary on the jacket on the book and pulled from Amazon above doesn't really do it justice.

If you're into The Twilight Zone, loved the filmed 1408, or parallel universe/conspiracy theories, this is right up your alley. You'll feel just as crazy as Eve does.

I give it 5/5 stars!
